Couples take note: When guys support the use of contraception, girls are more apt to use contraception. In fact, this was one of the most significant determinants of consistent use of birth control pills in a recent study of 110 girls between the ages of 13 and 17.

So how do you talk about contraception and STD prevention with your partner? Here are some tips:

Talk about it at a time when you are not about to have sex. It is a difficult topic for many couples but a relaxed environment will allow for better discussion. Be honest. Discuss how you feel about pregnancy at this time.Talk about the importance of preventing STDs and protecting each other. It's important for both heterosexual and homosexual couples to talk about STDs.

Partners in romantic relationships have responsibilities to each other. Understanding these responsibilities can help you develop healthy relationships. That is a good thing!
